Senken Secures 50,000-Tonne Carbon Removal Deal

Senken has signed a multi-year offtake agreement with Carbonsate covering 50,000 tonnes of biomass geological storage carbon removal from Namibia between 2026 and 2028. The companies describe it as Europe’s largest biomass storage deal and the second-largest buyer commitment in this removal category. Carbonsate stores encroacher bush biomass near Otjiwarongo in engineered underground chambers designed to limit decomposition and retain carbon for at least 100 years. Project operations follow Puro.earth’s Terrestrial Storage of Biomass methodology and have passed a facility audit, but most credits represent future delivery rather than issued supply. Senken will provide the volumes to corporate buyers and has screened the project through its Sustainability Integrity Index. The offtake is intended to support expansion of Carbonsate’s storage capacity.
