Carbon credit push gathers pace among Vietnamese firms

Vietnamese companies are accelerating carbon credit development as rules for international transfers take effect. Vingroup is developing two Verra- and Gold Standard-aligned projects: converting petrol motorcycles to electric vehicles, expected to generate one million credits during 2025–2029, and a charging network with estimated annual reductions of 3.5 million tCO₂e. Green Carbon Japan is also implementing alternate wetting and drying across 80,000 hectares of rice fields, targeting 500,000 credits this year and prices of $15–30. Under Decree No. 112/2026, international transfers may occur through Article 6 arrangements or independent standards, subject to government procedures and transfer limits.
