Bangladesh Issues First Clean Cooking Authorization Under Article 6 To ATEC

ATEC has received a Letter of Authorization from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for its Electric Cooking Program, becoming the country’s first clean-cooking developer authorized to generate mitigation outcomes for international transfer under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. The program will deploy high-efficiency induction stoves in the Chattogram division and is expected to reduce 1.29 million tonnes of CO2e by 2030. Registered under Gold Standard’s Metered and Measured Energy Cooking Devices methodology, the project will continuously measure baseline energy consumption and reductions achieved by participating households. Internet of Things technology installed in the stoves will enable real-time monitoring, producing digitally verifiable and auditable emissions data. The authorization includes corresponding-adjustment requirements to protect the integrity of internationally transferred mitigation outcomes. ATEC expects the project’s first carbon credit issuance in December 2026 and says the authorization provides policy certainty that can help mobilize international climate finance.
