Econetix Gains Rwanda Authorization To Market For CORSIA-Eligible Carbon Credits

Econetix has secured a Letter of Authorization from Rwanda for its Verra-certified Rwandan Improved Cookstove Project, developed with local partner Likano. The authorization covers up to 1.77 million tonnes of emissions reductions generated between September 2022 and August 2027. These credits may be transferred internationally under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, with Rwanda applying corresponding adjustments to prevent double counting. Most of the credits fall within CORSIA’s first compliance phase. The project adds potential supply to a constrained market, where Econetix estimates airline demand could reach 170–236 million credits, compared with only around 38–40 million eligible units currently authorized worldwide.
